S/V Spindrift

The contact was signed with Boreal in 2020. However, the planning intensified when the fabrication started in 2023. After a lot of work, the boat was launched in 2025 in Treguier, France. She is a Boreal 56 Open Cockpit, just shy of 60 feet. She is the first of this model from a designer with a full trophy case. We worked with Jean-François Delvoye, Jean-François Eeman and Eric Vautrin on the design/build. Jean-François Delvoye is the main driver behind the design. She is an aluminum center-boarder, solent rigged, trade wind expedition boat. Designed to survive the high latitudes and be comfortable at the equator too. Brice Le Ned at TEEM in Pordic, France helped to designed the electrical and navigation systems.  Raphaël Auffret at the Elvstrum sail loft in La Rochelle France designed and cut the sails. Colin Speedie from Wave Action in Glenuig Scotland helped along the way. A long process that had to overcome language barriers, distance, a pandemic and a war that brought countless issues. Sarah and I are very thankful to this group of very special people.  Cannot say enough positive things about this team.
